ITB Unveils First All-Electric Work-In Van on the Freightliner MT50e

At Intercontinental Truck Body (ITB), we continue to advance the future of mobile work solutions. Our newest project introduces our first all electric Work In Van, built on the Freightliner MT50e chassis and designed for specialized and high performance applications.

This vehicle is more than a truck. It is a fully custom mobile workspace built for diverse industries. It can serve as a rolling workshop, a mobile healthcare unit, or a police command center. It represents the next generation of clean, quiet, and efficient mobile operations.

High-Voltage, All-Electric Power
The MT50e’s high voltage exportable power brings major benefits to operators. It allows ITB to deliver heating, air conditioning, and advanced equipment functionality without additional generators or external power sources. This reduces emissions and lowers operating noise. It also creates a more comfortable and user friendly environment for crews who rely on dependable power in the field.

Engineering Excellence & Collaboration

This project required precise engineering and deep integration between the custom chassis and the ITB step van body. ITB’s engineering team worked closely with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation and Velocity Truck Centers to ensure that every component aligned perfectly. Optional galvanized frame rails and upgraded DuroForce brakes were included to improve performance, customization, and long term reliability.

The collaborative process also included on site training for this new electrical platform. This training helps ITB and its partners deliver a complete and future ready solution for customers adopting electric vocational vehicles.

Flexibility for Every Customer
Thanks to FCCC’s diverse platform options—including multiple wheelbases and higher GVWs—ITB can build larger and more customized step vans than any other platform. This means our customers get a specialized work truck designed exactly to their operational needs.
